Learning - Curriculum

Redwood Park Primary School is at the leading edge of educational practice. Teachers continue to build their knowledge to develop and implement models of best practice in student learning. Teachers develop differentiated programs to meet the needs of our students, supported by a strong team of Student Support Officers.
The school follows the Australian Curriculum with a significant emphasis on the General Capabilities, TfEL framework and the teaching of transferable skills. We aim to develop students’ identity, resilience, self-management, reasoning and communication skills, understanding of interconnections and capacity to positively influence their futures.
We teach a growth mindset approach and use a combination of explicit instruction and inquiry approaches to maximize learning opportunities, promote student ownership of their learning journey and respond to current pedagogical research.

At Redwood Park Primary School we plan, assess and report using the Australian Curriculum. The curriculum areas are as follows:

• Languages (Japanese - Specialist subject)

General capabilities within the Australian Curriculum are a set of knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that can be developed through all the learning areas. 

The seven general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum are:

• Intercultural understanding.

The cross‐curriculum priorities in the Australian Curriculum provide students with tools to better understand their world. The priorities are fitted with content to simultaneously develop knowledge, understanding and skills relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia, and Sustainability.
